Jamitree--Thanks for coming by and taking the time out to read my stuff. I have moved my site to thejunkdrawerneedles@wordpress.com, so if you want to stop by and read some more that would be great.

You commented on a poem I wrote, about my son. You mentioned your younger brother and that you felt the poem I wrote, was about Autism. Thank you for your comment and we share a thread. We have both been touched, by special children.

Love your writing. I will keep reading.

Sounds graphomaniacally familiar.
But nevertheless, great writing style.

In response to your kind post on my blog:

Yes Penny, it "credit for having a voice" would be nice to hear. To me affirmation from any quarter is helpful, though, as writers we’re still basically alone and have to find our motivation from within ourselves. No matter what the initial spark was, additional fuel must come from somewhere. For me, it seems to be enjoyment. It’s certainly not storytelling because, as I look at it, that is not my strength. I’ve been told I have an "ear" for dialogue, though I once spent one whole year trying to write a novel without any dialogue.
So, after all these years, what keeps me going? It certainly isn’t the things you mentioned: "publication, success, money, fame because I have only made a few dollars from my writing and what fame and success I have received have been fleeting.
Snippets from my past (the fifties, the sixties, and the seventies don’t seem that long ago) find there way in stories I’ve written, not always disguised, but more often unfinished works I have collected on my computer and in cardboard boxes. Strangely, I don’t feel discouraged by this lack of direction nor do I feel as if my writing career has gone awry.
Some of my first plays were produced professionally, plays that may be lost now. They were done and I moved on and, except out of curiosity, I have no interest in going back to them. I am not sure if that is totally true, because recently I thought of rewriting one on them, giving it a present-day theme. It was play Paul Baker encouraged me to rewrite, and I never did. I am interested in how other writers stay motivated.
That’s it for now.
Randy

Thanks for your comment. No, it is not meant to condemn poetry itself, but merely the melancholia that can plague so many poets. :)
